Seguin PD Launches Voluntary Surveillance Registry

Police in Seguin are hoping you can help them with a few extra eyes on the street thanks to a voluntary new surveillance registration program.

“The system is all volunteer-based” Officer Carlos Contreras told KTSA News, adding “The security camera owners that are already registered–any time they want to opt out, they are welcome to.”

The premise is really pretty simple. If something happens in the area of a registered surveillance system, Seguin Police will then approach the owner of that system and ask to take a look at the tape.

“We noticed in North Texas, some agencies have utilized the system. That’s where we kind of piggybacked off of to help start the program (in Seguin)” Contreras said.

The registration is open to residents of the City of Seguin. You can register your system by visiting the Seguin Police Department at 350 N. Guadalupe Street, or online at
