Selena Gomez will talk like an animal to Robert Downey Jr. in “Doctor Dolittle”

ABC/Image Group LA(LOS ANGELES) — Selena Gomez is joining the cast of the new Doctor Dolittle movie starring Robert Downey Jr., according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Doctor Dolittle, of course is a doctor who can speak to animals, and Selena will voice one of the animals in the upcoming flick, The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle.

Other actors voicing animals include Downey’s onscreen protege in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland, as well as Emma Thompson and Ralph Fiennes.  In addition to Downey, the live-action cast including Michael Sheen and Antonio Banderas.

The movie is set to begin production later this month with a release planned for April 2019.

Downey will be the third film Doctor Dolittle.  Rex Harrison played the character in a 1967 film musical, based on the 1920s book series.  Eddie Murphy made two Doctor Dolittle movies between the late 1990s and early 2000s.
