Semi Driver Crashes After Falling Asleep

You may have run in to a bit of a slow-go Tuesday Morning if you were headed north on I-37.

All thanks to an early morning crash that resulted in a semi hauling produce overturning on the highway.

“Right there at the split of I-37 and 410… ended up striking a guardrail, and flipping over in to an embankment” said SAPD’s Officer Douglas Greene, describing the crash for KTSA News.

Greene said the truck driver was able to quickly get help following the crash.

“There were several travelers on I-37 that pulled over, and assisted with getting the driver out of the semi truck” Greene said.

The driver is expected to be ok. He has since told police he fell asleep behind the wheel before the crash happened.
