Bill Miller Bar-B-Q’s $1.65 special over the weekend was a big hit. Too big of a hit.
The chain posted an apology on Facebook Wednesday thanking customers for their support, but acknowledged it wasn’t up for the challenge.
“The overwhelming support for our special last week caused major issues at all of our locations,” the company wrote. “We heard from all of you, across social media, and by phone, and we are working hard to make it right.”
The offer included two pieces of dark meat fried chicken, fried and a roll to celebrate the company’s 65th anniversary.
“We were so amazed – we had no idea we would have people ordering up to 70 plates! We will definitely be better prepared next time. ” the company wrote in response to a comment supporting the restaurant.
The post said it would “make it right” for customers, but it’s not clear what that means for them.
