Spurs to Retire Duncan’s Number

A Spurs legend will see his number raised to the rafters at the AT&T Center.

The team said Tim Duncan’s #21 will be retired Sunday, December 18th–when the Spurs will host the New Orleans Pelicans. A special post-game ceremony honoring Duncan will follow.

Duncan will become the eighth Spur to see his number retired–following Bruce Bowen, Sean Elliott, George Gervin, Avery Johnson, Johnny Moore, David Robinson, and James Silas.

In his final season, Duncan became just the third player in league history to reach one-thousand wins–and the only to reach that mark with a single team.
