Student Killed Crossing West Ave

A parent’s worst nightmare comes true on West Avenue.

That’s where a 12-year old girl was hit and killed while walking to school Thursday Morning.

“She was a sixth-grader at Eisenhower Middle School. Obviously, our hearts are heavy” the North East Independent School District’s Aubrey Chancellor told KTSA News.

“When (she) got to the crosswalk at the intersection of West Avenue and Mount Tipton, they crossed according to witnesses against the crossing signal” said SAPD Officer Douglas Greene. The girl died shortly after being hit.

Now, students and teachers at Eisenhower will carry on through their grief and loss.

“School will go on as planned. Of course, we will have counselors there. Anyone who needs assistance–or needs to talk with someone… certainly we’ll accommodate that” Chancellor said.
