A SXSW in San Antonio?

Councilman Cris Medina wants to get a SXSW like event in San Antonio.

“I really do think that we have an untapped music scene in San Antonio,” he said.

He pointed to what Austin and Nashville have done, embracing the music scene and culture.

“Really the economic impact that music has created for those two cities, as examples, I think San Antonio should be in the discussion as well,” Medina told KTSA News.

He thinks the city needs to look for ways to be more accommodating to musicians and the industry.

“What can we do to attract a big name type festival that maybe already exists,” he said. “Maybe it’s in conjunction with something that we have every year in San Antonio, like Fiesta or an example like that.”

He thinks it could have a big economic impact.
