Taylor Brushes Aside Criticism From Trump

She’s not ashamed of herself.

“No not at all” Mayor Ivy Taylor told KTSA’s Trey Ware after Republican Presidential Nominee Donald Trump criticized the punishment of more than a dozen San Antonio Police Officers for wearing Trump hats while in uniform during a recent campaign stop in the Alamo City.

The Mayor said the action is all about upholding protocols.

“It’s very important that our officers follow the policies and procedures that we have in place” Taylor said, adding “We certainly want to insure our officers are seen as protecting and serving everyone in San Antonio.”

The Mayor also made clear the actions taken against the officers are not intended to stifle their own political free will.

“Of course, when they’re out of uniform and on their own time, they have the opportunity to express themselves whatever way they’d like–and to support whatever candidate they’d like” Taylor said.
