“Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it” – Hebrews 13:2
The Bible is clear, angels are real beings and they are among us right now. What’s more, most times we don’t know when we have had an angelic encounter.
As we move into Memorial Day Weekend, I think it’s important to remember the angels among us that we are aware of.
For instance, the millions of angels whom we will honor Monday who selflessly, willingly, voluntarily, laid down their lives so others could live in freedom.
Men and women who marched into unknown lands and certain death so that their fellow human beings would have the chance to live free of tyranny and oppression. They died so that people they would never meet, including generations yet to be born, would have the opportunity to live lives of liberty and not in the bonds of others.
God bless the men and women who have died while wearing the uniform of the US military.
Today, San Antonio honors another angel – SA Firefighter Scott Deem.
Deem willingly gave his life in the line of duty while responding to a massive blaze.
He leaves behind a wife, children (including one on the way), and an entire community grateful for his service and ultimate sacrifice.
The Bible is true. There are angels among us. We are unaware of most them, but they are here none the less.
Others are clearly seen because they exemplify another scripture,
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” – John 15:13
Let us be aware of their presence and take heed to “show hospitality” or kindness to strangers. You just never know who or Whom you may be encountering.
