Former Republican House Speaker John Boehner showed his horns today when he called Sen Ted Cruz “Lucifer in the flesh,” and said he has never worked with a more “miserable son of a bitch in my life.” So how’s that for class? But really, you’re not surprised are you?
During his speakership, Mr. Boehner did nothing to advance the cause of conservatives or his own party. He refused to hold President Obama accountable for his many unconstitutional actions, and even helped Obama pass a huge spending bill which included the expiration of spending cuts.
Boehner’s reign was one of chaos, confusion, and contempt (for the constitution). So when the former speaker made his comments (about Sen Cruz) it was no surprise. Of course he would be miserable working with someone who supports the constitution, defends liberty, and opposes Obama’s policies of government by fiat.
Oh, and there’s one other characteristic Sen. Cruz possesses that probably makes John Boehner “miserable.” Mr. Cruz is a principled Christian who stands up for the cause of Jesus Christ. I have spoken with him on many occasions, and I have heard him speak of his faith and love for Christ. Jesus was clear that His followers would be hated in this world just as the world hated Him (John 15:18). In fact, in Matthew’s gospel (chapter 12) there’s a story of a time when Jesus performed a miracle by casting a demon from a man. The religious leaders then blasphemed Christ by attributing His good works to the power of Satan (Lucifer). So when Boehner calls Ted Cruz “Lucifer,” Sen Cruz is in pretty good company.
Sen. Cruz needn’t concern himself with the words of a washed-up Washington insider politician who was a failed speaker. There’s only One Whom he needs to please, and it isn’t John Boehner.
