TREY’s TAKE: Pop Says America Is Racist Country

“We live in a racist country that hasn’t figured it out yet. It’s always important to bring attention to it, even if it angers some people. The point is, you have to keep it in front of everybody’s nose and let them know it still hasn’t been taken care of and we still have a lot of work to do.” – Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich

America is a racist country? Obviously, if Pop were to look around him he would see evidence that points to the opposite conclusion than the one he expressed.

Once again the coach is ranting with a broad brush.

Is there racism in our country? Absolutely. There are racists of every skin color, ethnicity, and social status.¬†True racism is evil and should be vigorously challenged until we learn to see through skin color and realize we are all God’s creation.

Condemning an entire nation as racist is hateful and divisive, and does nothing to improve the situation.

Pop would do well to remember that while America is not perfect we are far better than we were.

Sadly, there are those who for their own political purposes want people to believe all of America is an evil racist nation. They use it as a wedge issue to divide us.

We must tune out these negative shrill voices.
