The Trump vs. Ryan “Republican Civil War” is nothing new. The media is playing it up to make it seem as though this began after the release of the Trump bus tape. Not true. They have been at odds since the beginning. Their brief show of unity was like the nearly divorced couple who puts on a happy face at their kid’s dance recital. They were just making nice while still headed for divorce court.
The national Republican party has been in chaos for years. You do remember all those Tea Party rallies, don’t you?
The GOP descended further into disarray every time John Boehner cut a deal with Obama over a smoke and a glass of chardonnay.
Now comes word that Speaker Paul Ryan is telling Republican politicians to save themselves. Do what you have to do to keep your seat.
GOP elite bosses want to CYA – pronto. To the elite ruling class this about power and control.
Speaker Ryan seemed to indicate Republicans have conceded the White House to Hillary when he said the party would focus on making sure she “does not get a blank check with a Democrat-controlled Congress.”
They just don’t get it.
GOP party leaders still think grass-roots Republicans and Trump supporters have winning the White House and keeping control of Congress as their number one goal.
While it’s true grassroots supporters want to win, there is something else at work here.
For many grassroots Republicans this election is more about standing up to the controlling Washington elites than it is about winning an election.
For years and years conservatives were told, “Trust us and we will change Washington,” and what do they have to show for it?
So they decided this time it had to be different. Motivated by the distrust they share in their party’s ruling class, the grassroots chose a candidate who will stick it to the ruling elites in BOTH parties.
Finally, they say, they have someone who will stand up to the Bill and Hillary and tell them just how corrupt they are and say, “You should be in jail.”
Trump is their wrecking crew.
True, he may lose the election, but he will destroy what’s left of the ruling establishment class – and that’s the goal.
For them, this election is about fundamentally changing how business is done in DC, and win or lose, their man for that job is Donald Trump.
