Trump Caps Land Officers in Trouble

Some San Antonio Police officers are in trouble for wearing Donald Trump Campaign hats while on duty.

More than a dozen officers assisting Secret Service with Trump’s motorcade were wearing red caps that read “Make America Great Again.”

Police Chief William McManus says wearing the campaign hats while in uniform violates SAPD policy and those officers “will be disciplined appropriately.”

In statement released late Tuesday, the chief went on to say the officers displayed poor judgment.

“I expect them to know better than to give the appearance of endorsing a candidate while on duty and in uniform, regardless of the political campaign or the candidate.”

City Attorney Andy Segovia sent a letter to the Trump campaign requesting that the video be removed from the campaign’s social media sites.

KTSA News has obtained a copy of that letter.

“We make the request because similar security is provided to all political candidates. Impartiality and neutrality with respect to the person being protected is essential to effectively carrying out their role as assigned security,” Segovia’s letter stated.
