TX Joins Lawsuit Against DE

The State of Texas is ready to take on Delaware in court–joining twenty-other states.

“We’re just trying to get what is owed to us paid” Attorney General Ken Paxton said, announcing the lawsuit over what he described as about $150-million in cash from unclaimed checks ordered turned over to the State of Delaware by Delaware-based Moneygram–even if those checks were not drawn in Delaware.

“We know (it’s been happening) for several years… at least back four or five years–maybe longer” Paxton said.

This is not the first Delaware has heard of such complaints.

“There have been conversations between us and other States… this is the second action being taken by States” Paxton said.
