USPS expands new Connect Local service to 65 San Antonio sites

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The United States Postal Service has opened 65 USPS Connect Local sites across San Antonio with more coming in the coming months.

The USPS Connect Local service first launched in July as a pilot program at seven sites in Houston and Dallas as a way to help local businesses and organizations provide same-day or next-day delivery for local-to-local deliveries.

“This is the first time in the history of the organization that we’ve piloted this type of process,” said Jakki Krage Strako, USPS chief commerce and business solutions officer and executive vice president. “We’re excited to offer affordable fast delivery options to help neighborhood businesses meet consumer needs and grow.”

Local businesses and organizations can utilize USPS Connect Local by enrolling in the service online, entering package information online vua USPS Click-N-Ship, and bringing packages with the prepaid label to the back dock of the postal facility closes to the package destination. This service provides local businesses and organizations with delivery rates only available to high-volume shippers, USPS said.

USPS said that users wanting to utilize same day delivery must drop the package off between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. Packages can be delivered up to 30 minutes before close for next-day delivery in the ZIP code areas served by that post office.
