Weekend Closure on Busy West Avenue

Heads up drivers!

West Avenue near Nakoma closes at 8pm Friday and won’t reopen until Monday morning.

It’s part of the work on the West Avenue Low Water Crossing Project.

“As part of that project, we’re doing a lot of improvements,” the city’s April Luna told KTSA News. Those improvements include utility, water, sewer and gas line work.

“We’re going to be closing the West Avenue area, near Nakoma, so that way we can install some sewer lines along that area.”

Luna said the road closes at 8pm Friday, reopening Monday at 5am.

“Whenever we have a closure for any type of project, we always provide a detour route,” she said. “We want to make sure we make any closure as convenient as possible for all commuters in the area.”
