What’s Next for Manuel Medina?

What’s next for Bexar County Democratic Party Chairman Manuel Medina now that his campaign to be Mayor of San Antonio has come to an end?

“People inside the Loop… people outside the Loop came together to support Manuel Medina. Maybe not enough of them–but some of them did” Medina said following his disappointing third place finish Saturday Night.

Medina sounded a like a candidate until the very end, delivering what was a fiery concession speech.

“I continue to believe today that we have too many six-figure salaries at City Hall… too many pet projects at City Hall… and I will continue to be a voice for fiscal responsibility at City Hall” Medina told his supporters.

“Elected officials in this race and beyond this race are going to have to address the issues that we talked about today… which is independent leadership at City Hall focused on today… and cost-effective government” Medina added.

Medina quickly downplayed the notion that seeming embrace of conservatives during his campaign may have created any ill feelings among local Democrat

“I’m going to continue to push forward on the issues I fought for from the beginning when I was first elected as Chairman of the Democratic Party–and, that I have brought to light in this election” Medina said.
