Wilson Ready to Fly at UTSA

UTSA’s new Head Football Coach is ready to take flight.

“It’s an honor…it’s a pleasure to be here today” said Frank Wilson after being introduced Friday Afternoon, adding “I thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of the UTSA family.”

The one-time Running Backs Coach at LSU, Wilson said the decision to leave Baton Rouge and move to San Antonio for this job was an easy one to make.

“Opportunity. I see potential. I see a school that’s nestled in the State of Texas–that’s fertile recruiting grounds” Wilson said.

Wilson is seen in college football circles as a strong recruiter. A number of the running backs he coached at LSU are also on NFL rosters today.

Wilson also said he understands the challenges in front of him in leading a young football program.

“To have an opportunity to be the first to win a conference championship at this university in football…to have an opportunity to be the first to win a bowl game…all of those things appeal to this university” Wilson said.

Wilson becomes UTSA’s second Head Football Coach. He replaces former University of Miami National Champion Coach Larry Coker–who left the school earlier this month.A
