A woman and her 1-year-old daughter are lucky to be alive after a pickup truck crashed through the bedroom of their West Side home.

Police say their bed was knocked through the rear wall when the truck slammed into the exterior wall of the home on Enid Street around 3 this morning.

Twenty-year-old Melissa Guzman was knocked unconscious for a while and was taken to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The child suffered a minor abrasion. No one else was injured.

The driver of the pickup and a passenger fled the scene.
