Woman Jumps From Downtown Bridge

A woman who jumped from a downtown bridge on IH 35 is recovering at University Hospital.

Police say the woman put one leg over the rail on IH 35 at South Frio this morning and some drivers pulled over, walked toward her and tried to stop her from jumping. She plunged about 20 feet onto the lower level of IH 35 where some good samaritans directed traffic around her until emergency crews arrived.

The 50-year-old woman was alert and talking to first responders when she was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
