Wrong Way Crash Kills Driver

A wrong way crash early Friday Morning leaves one person dead.

San Antonio Police said a detective spotted a pick-up headed west in the eastbound lanes of Highway 90 around 3:30 AM.

“The detective attempted to get the attention of that driver using the spotlight on his patrol car” Officer Douglas Greene told KTSA News, adding”The detective immediately notified dispatch, we had officers on the way. Unfortunately, they couldn’t get there in time before the pick-up struck an Impala head-on.”

Both the driver of the pick-up and the Impala were rushed to the hospital. The Impala’s driver died a short time later. The driver of the pick-up suffered an ankle injury.

Police are now trying to determine if alcohol may have played a role in why the pick-up was traveling in the wrong direction.
