Wrong Way Driver Arrested

It’s happened yet again.

For a second time this week, San Antonio Police found themselves dealing with a wrong way driver. Fortunately this time it didn’t end with a crash.

It all started around 2 AM Wednesday–when police spotted a Ford Expedition traveling the wrong way on U.S. Highway 281.

“The officer immediately activated their emergency lights and sirens to try to get the attention of the driver” SAPD’s Officer Douglas Greene told KTSA News, adding “That driver slowed down, but continued to travel southbound in the northbound lanes.

Greene said 24-year old Joel Castillo finally stopped near Hildebrand.

“When asked where exactly he got on to 281, he could not recall” Greene said.

Castillo now faces a drunk driving charge. Earlier this week, a wrong way driver caused a crash on the I 35 access road near Walzem–leaving two drivers dead.
