Wrong Way Driver Hits School Bus

A close call Thursday Morning in South Bexar County–where a wrong way pickup truck driver slammed in to a Somerset ISD school bus–then took off–leading deputies on a dangerous chase.

We’re told the accident happened at around 6:30–on Loop 1604 near Highway 16.

“Our deputies were able to track the driver down on 1604 near Highway 281 South. They pulled him over, and he sped away” said James Keith with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, who told KTSA News the chase then began.

“He was in and out of the lanes–almost hit an 18-wheeler before he crashed in to a pickup truck. That crash caused the front end of his truck to come off” Keith said.

The chase then came to an end several hundred feet later.

“We do believe that he was under the influence of some form of narcotics” Keith said.

No one was hurt in the crash–including the two small children who were aboard the school bus.
