It’s a motivator for kids fighting cancer–and you’ll soon find a bell at University Hospital.
“They don’t get to ring the bell until they are through with chemo–and, their blood tests come back clear” the San Antonio Fire Department’s Woody Woodward told KTSA News, after the Department found a bell that will be used at the hospital.
“The good folks at the San Antonio Fire Museum literally took an antique bell off of an antique truck. Now, we’re building a big huge display for it, it’s going in to the hospital next week” Woodward said.
The inspiration behind it all: young Damon Billeck.
“It’s really cool to know that everyone is looking up to you and seeing how you’re changing all of this stuff and doing all of these things for everyone” Damon told us.
He’s looking forward to ringing the bell one day himself.
“The motivation of the bell is to know whenever you pass by–you might not be done–but,it’s your motivation to keep on going” Damon said.
