11 year old girl shot with a gun she found while playing outside

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — An 11 year old girl who was playing outside with another child is in critical condition with a gunshot wound.

San Antonio Police were called to an apartment complex in the 3500 block of West Avenue at around 10 A.M. Monday.

That’s where the girl and an 8 year old boy found a gun in the courtyard.

While they were playing with the gun, one of them pulled the trigger and the girl was shot in the shoulder.

She was rushed to an area hospital where she remains in critical condition. The boy wasn’t hurt.

Police say they aren’t sure which of the children was holding the gun when it was fired or who it belongs to.

The investigation continues.
