18 wheeler catches fire on IH-10 in San Antonio

Police were called to I-10 and Brazos. That’s where a truck driver noticed the back of his rig was on fire.

The driver crashed his truck into a concrete median. As the front tire dangled over the barrier, the flames spread to the rest of the truck.

The driver was able to escape unharmed but the truck suffered heavy damage.

Eastbound traffic on I-10 was down to one lane as crews worked to extinguish the flames.

Once the fire was out, the work to remove the truck got underway. Traffic is still backed up as the morning commute gets underway. It could take several hours to remove the truck from the highway.

Investigators are still looking into how the fire started.
