SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A 27-year-old U.S. Army mechanic was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for attempting to solicit a minor for sex.

Federal prosecutors say Reynaldo Salinas’ prison term will be followed by 10 years of supervised release.

Evidence presented in trail showed that Salinas was talking to someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl online.  During those conversations, Salinas sent multiple nude photos of himself and said he wanted to have sex — and engage in other sexual behavior — with the girl.

That girl was actually an undercover federal agent with the Air Force.

“I am proud that our office just took another child predator off the streets. I am also glad that increasing
national attention is being focused on the problem of child sexual abuse in the United States. We need
significantly greater efforts nationwide to fight this scourge,” stated U.S. Attorney Bash.

Salinas is an Army mechanic at Camp Bullis.  He was convicted on a count of attempted enticement of a minor and a count of attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor.
