30 Years of “Don’t Mess With Texas”

A popular anti-litter campaign is 30 years old.

Famous Texnas including George Strait, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Willie Nelson have loaned their talents to the “Don’t Mess With Texas” campaign.

TXDOT’s Laura Lopez says while the effort has resulted in tons of trash being collected, there is still a long way to go.

Lopez says most of the trash collected are smaller items like cigarette butts, drink containers and napkins. She says not only is it ugly, the trash build up creates some major safety issues.
