40 years in prison for man convicted in fatal road rage shooting

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The 227th Criminal District Court is handing down a 40-year prison sentence to a man convicted of shooting another man in downtown San Antonio.

The shooting happened in June 2022 when Timothy John Sypher was shot while driving in a construction area on East Martin Street. Police say Martin Trevino, 26, shot Sypher when he stopped at a red light.

Sypher was rushed to the hospital, but before he died he told police he had been shot in a road rage incident.

Shell casings recovered at the scene were eventually traced back to Trevino, who was arrested in February of last year. Investigators also found the shell casings were linked to another shooting that happened a week before Sypher’s murder.
