SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — It has taken 51 years…. but a Creedence Clearwater Revival song has finally topped a Billboard chart.

The CCR classic “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” first charted on the Billboard Hot 100 back in 1970. It peaked at Number 8.

But the song has obviously struck a chord as we come out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s currently the number 1 song on Billboard’s “Rock Digital Song Sales” chart.

John Fogerty, who wrote the song, released a statement on his social media platforms:

“It’s amazing to see that even after 50 years, a song I wrote, “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” has reached #1 on the Billboard charts. Very grateful that people still listen to my music around the world! Thank you.”

During CCR’s run of hits in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, they never had a number 1 song. But five of their singles did peak at number 2.
