AHL cancels rest of season, end of road for San Antonio Rampage

BEXAR COUNTY, Tex. (KTSA News) — The American Hockey League announced Monday it has cancelled the rest of the 2019-2020 season.

With that announcement, it means there will be no final farewell to the San Antonio Rampage, who will be moving to Nevada after the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights purchased the franchise.

The league champion and other awards will be based on the current standings when play stopped on March 12th because of the coronavirus pandemic.  The Milwaukee Admirals were atop the AHL standings with a record of 41-13-8 and 90 points.

The Rampage were 24-25-12 with 60 points, one point behind — though played one game fewer — the rival Cedar Park-based Texas Stars (27-28-7, 61 points).
