Alcohol Blamed in Deadly Wrong Way Crash

An all too familiar crash in the San Antonio area leaves a woman dead–and another critically hurt.

“Around 10:30 last night, we received multiple calls saying a car was driving south in the northboud lanes of I-35 near Kinney Road” said James Keith with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, who told KTSA News the deadly crash happened moments later.

“That driver, a 57-year old woman crashed head-on in to another car. The woman who was driving that Sonata died a few moments later Keith said, adding “The woman who she hit was a 17-year old who had just gotten off of work at a restaurant in Lytle. She suffered critical injuries, and was flown to University Hospital, where she’s still recovering.”

Deputies are convinced the older woman was driving drunk.

“It seems no matter how many times we tell people don’t drink and drive, some people still don’t get that message” Keith said, expressing the frustration of deputies in the aftermath of yet another deadly wrong way crash.
