Another earthquake rocks area about 45 miles east of San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – There’s been a whole lot of shaking going on lately in areas east of San Antonio.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports a magnitude 3.1 earthquake rocked an area just outside the city of Smiley in Gonzales County just before 6 Tuesday morning. That’s about 45 miles east of San Antonio.

“The house briefly shook and there was a loud noise and that was it,” a woman named Laura told KTSA News. “That’s not the only one we’ve had in the area. There was one in Dewitt County Sunday morning.”

The Mother’s Day earthquake near Cuero also was a 3.1 magnitude event. The USGS reports a 3.0-magnitude quake hit near Stockdale last Friday.

No damage has been reported, but if the earthquakes affected you or your property, the USGS asks that you report it on their website.
