SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – A massive fire in Windcrest caused a building to collapse and sent two people to a hospital early Monday.

Windcrest Fire Chief Dan Kramer told KTSA News a cooking fire in a first-floor unit of  the Crestwind Townhomes and Apartments got out of control and quickly spread through an entire building around 1 this morning.

Kramer says the first fire crew on the scene had a low water pressure problem, so they called for additional firefighters, not only from  Windcrest, but from neighboring cities.

Half of the building collapsed and two people suffering from smoke inhalation were taken to a hospital.  Kramer says the building housing four units is a total loss.

Windcrest Public Works crews are cleaning up  the debris and displaced families are being relocated to other units in the complex on Willmon Way.
