Arlington police officer shoots at dog, hits woman

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — An Arlington police officer who started shooting at a loose dog, ended up killing a woman who was nearby.

This happened just after 5 PM on Thursday when the officer was called out to check on a 30 year old woman who was passed out in the grass.

As the officer made his way toward the woman, the dog, who was with the woman, started running toward him.

The Arlington police department says as the officer started backing away, he fired his gun several times and the woman was hit by the gunfire. She was pronounced dead at a local hospital at short time later.

The shooting was recorded by the officer’s body camera.

There’s been no report on what happened to the dog.
