Balcones Heights names Jahanara new police chief

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Balcones Heights has named its interim police chief its new permanent police chief.

The City of Balcones Heights said John Jahanara was appointed to the role last Friday.  He had served as the interim police chief since March 29th when former police chief Darrell Volz resigned to take the same position with the City of Windcrest.

“I am excited and know I am prepared for this new role as Chief. I am looking forward to continuing the success this department has had over the years.  I want the Balcones Heights Police Department to be known as a model small-city police department,” said Jahanara.

Jahanara joined the police department in 2008 after four years with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

“Public Safety is extremely important to the City of Balcones Heights and someone of John Jahanara’s character and experience will allow current staff to continue to work at the best of their abilities to protect the public,” said Balcones Heights Mayor Suzanne de Leon.
