Bandera resident gets 50 years in prison for producing child pornography

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A Bandera man was sentenced to prison and ordered to pay restitution to the victims of his production of child pornography.

Officials said 63-year-old Michael Dewayne Sheeds’ phone was seized in 2019 and a search revealed pictures and videos of child abuse and sexual assault, some of which were produced by Sheeds.

Sheeds was sentenced to 50 years in prison by a federal judge Tuesday and ordered to pay both victims $100,000. He was also ordered to pay an additional $10,000 in assessments per the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act.

“The defendant’s abuse forever altered his victims’ lives and was only discovered when one of them bravely preserved evidence of his horrific conduct,” said U.S. Attorney Ashley C. Hoff. “I am convinced the action undertaken by this victim prevented additional harm. While the impact to the victims in this case can never be undone, my hope is that the lengthy prison sentence assists in their healing process while serving to further protect our community.”
