BCSO Deputies Helping in Houston

By Elizabeth Ruiz

Eleven Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputies are in Houston to help with recovery efforts following Hurricane Harvey. They’ll lend a helping hand to the Houston Police Department.

“We’re here to help each other out,” said Deputy Marin Mata.

Each deputy drove a Bexar County patrol vehicle to Houston Tuesday morning because Hurricane Harvey wiped out several Houston Police Department cruisers.

“They will be using Bexar County vehicles with a Houston police officer inside, so it’s going to be a two-man unit,” said Mata.

The deputies are expected to remain in Houston for 7 to 10 days. Bexar County could send more officers if necessary.
