Beeville man arrested for smuggling drugs and illegal immigrants following high speed chase in Kerr County

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A man found with drugs and two illegal immigrants in his vehicle has been arrested by Kerr County Deputies.

It happened last Wednesday when deputies conducting an investigation into drug trafficking and human smuggling when they became suspicious of one vehicle.

They tried to get the driver to stop but instead, he lead the deputies on a high speed chase on IH-10 which at times found the man driving well over 100 miles per hour.

The chase ended about 15 minutes later when the driver crashed near Kerrville.

The driver jumped out and tried to run but he was caught and placed under arrest.

He’s been identified as 33 year old David Klaiber of Beeville.

Two undocumented immigrants who were in the car with him will be turned over to the U.S Border Patrol.

Deputies also found 1.4 ounces of marijuana, 13.8 grams of methamphetamine, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Klaiber is being charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Evading in a Motor Vehicle, and two counts of Smuggling of Persons.

Bond has been set at $130,000.
