There are many cultures and languages used in soccer — and sometimes they don’t always match up.

A prime example is an inspirational halftime pep talk given by Saudi Arabian coach Herve Renard to his players after giving up an early goal to Argentina last Thursday.  The team would come out of the half to score two for a 2-1 win over the Argentinians.

However, the speech was a bit of language telephone.

Renard is French and does not speak Arabic.  The video showed the team using a translator who is an assistant coach on the team, who apparently does not speak French.  So, Renard delivered his speech in relatively broken English which the interpreter relayed to the team in Arabic.
