Beto invites former high school football players to Tuesday’s debate
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Beto O’Rourke has invited some guests to tonight’s Democratic Presidential candidates debate.
Three former Lansing catholic High School football players who followed the lead of former-NFL player Colin Kaepernick when they took a knee as the national anthem was played before their high school football games.
O’Rourke says Michael Lynn III, Matthew Abdullah and RoJe Williams “have served their community in one of the most American ways possible.”
He learned of the young men’s story when one of their families donated to his Senate campaign. They saw a video in which O’Rourke defend NFL players who chose to take a knee to protest police brutality and racism.
O’Rourke called the young men last week to extend the invitation to the debate. All three accepted.
