Beto O’Rourke says Governor’s response to COVID-19 is “pathetic”
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Former Congressman and Presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke is calling for Governor Greg Abbott to resign over the way he’s handled the state’s response to the coronavirus.
O’Rourke took to Twitter to say the Governor opened the state too soon and issued a mask order too late.
He goes on to say Abbott has denied local leaders the authority to contain the virus which has caused uncontrolled spread and that many are hospitalized and soon dead because of his negligence.
He ends his tweet with the words “Pathetic” and “Resign”.
O’Rourke served three terms in Congress before choosing to run for the United States Senate in 2018. He lost to Ted Cruz.
The following year he entered the race to be the 2020 Democratic nominee for President but ended his campaign before the primaries began.
Abbott opens Texas too soon, issues mask order too late, denies local leaders authority to contain the virus — causing uncontrolled covid spread, many hospitalized & soon dead because of his negligence — and then blames local officials? Pathetic. Resign. https://t.co/UjKxKxfdQm
