Bexar Co. inmate dies days after jail cell suicide attempt

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A woman held in the Bexar County jail who was found unresponsive in her cell last week has died.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said 19-year-old Ashanti Taylor died at around 11 a.m. Friday.  She had been on life support after trying to take her own life in jail.

Taylor was initially booked into the jail on July 6 for terroristic threat on family.  Several units within the sheriff’s office is investigating her death and Converse police have been notified of the custodial death, as per protocol.
