Bexar County deputies search for undocumented immigrant left for dead near local ranch
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is using drones and deputies on horseback to search for an undocumented immigrant who may have died on a ranch in the far South Side.
Sheriff Javier Salazar says 33-year-old Marcos Vasquez Ramirez, also known as Eduardo Lopez, was traveling with a group of people from Guatemala to Houston. While passing through San Antonio, Marcos is believed to have suffered a medical episode near a ranch off of South Loop 1604 at Pleasanton Road.
“My understanding is that the group then left him under a tree, either dead or in the process of dying. They left him there,” Salazar said.
Someone who had been traveling with him contacted the family via a phone app.
“They mentioned that they had stopped here in San Antonio and that he suffered a medical episode as they were walking through a wooded area,” Salazar said.
Anyone with information on Vasquez Ramirez’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Missing Persons Unit at 210-335-6000 or online at [email protected].
