Bexar County Deputy is fired following DWI arrest

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A Bexar County Sheriff’s detention deputy losing her job after being arrested for DWI.

Sheriff Javier Salazar says he has given Deputy Nancy Cruz a proposed dismissal for an ongoing lack of sound judgment.

“The ongoing lack of sound judgement displayed by this employee is detrimental to this agency. This is an affront and an insult to every other BCSO deputy who continues to serve with honor. She has been served with a proposed termination which will be handled appropriately and within all guidelines.”

Cruz was taken into custody late last night and state troopers say she had a 15 year old child in her vehicle when they stopped her.

Cruz is 23 years old and had been on unpaid administrative leave since April over some attendance issues.

She had been with the Sheriff’s Office since July of 2017.
