SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — An inmate held at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center died Thursday morning.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said 24-year-old Leon Causey was found unresponsive by an officer who was doing face-to-face observation checks at around 8:45 a.m.
Deputies and medical staff tried saving his life, but ultimately failed.
Causey had been held in the detention center since July 4th for Possession of a Controlled Substance Less Than 1 Gram. The offense happened in January.
The sheriff’s office said Converse police has been notified, which is standard protocol according to state law.
The sheriff’s office is investigating how Causey died.
