Bexar County Medical Examiner identifies woman shot and killed after attacking Balcones Heights Police Officers

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The Bexar County Medical Examiner has identified the woman who was shot and killed after attacking Balcones Heights police officers with homemade weapons.

It happened at 8 p.m. Friday, April 12 in the 200 block of North Crossroads Boulevard.

Police say the woman, identified as 49-year-old Marta Lamar Prater was loitering on private property and as they were instructing her to leave the area, she attacked the officers with a homemade weapon.

She broke the rear window of the officers patrol vehicle and the officers tased her three times. But that had no effect on Lamar Prater, and one of the officers shot her.

Police say the officers performed first aid on the woman until EMS arrived to bring her to a nearby hospital. She was pronounced dead soon after arriving.

The name of the officer who shot her has not been released.
