Bexar County Sheriff’s Office says two inmates found unresponsive in cells Saturday night, one died, the other hospitalized

A Bexar County Jail inmate is dead, another has been hospitalized after they were both found unresponsive in their cells.

The sheriff’s office says it happened at around 11:15 p.m. Saturday. A deputy found the men and began life-saving measures on both men until help arrived.

Medical staff arrived and administered Narcan to both men.

One of the inmates, 36-year-old Juan Moreno-Hernandez was pronounced dead just after 11:30 p.m. The sheriff’s office believes he consumed an unknown substance and had a medical episode. The medical examiner will determine the exact cause of his death.

The second inmate, a 50-year-old man was hospitalized but there’s no update on his condition.
