Bexar County Sheriff’s Office: Woman charged with animal cruelty after dead and malnourished dogs found in her apartment

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A San Antonio woman is facing animal cruelty charges after a dead dog and another that was malnourished were found in her apartment.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar says deputies were called to the 500 block of Mansions Bluff Wednesday by someone reporting a foul odor coming from the apartment.

The apartment’s maintenance staff opened the door for the deputies.

Once inside, they discovered the badly decomposed body of a pit bull and a second that was severely malnourished.

Deputies made contact with the tenant, 24 year-old Cameron McKee who told them the dogs were fine when she last saw them New Years Day.

Sheriff Salazar says the condition of the dogs proved that was not true, and McKee was taken into custody.

She’s been charged with cruelty to animals which is a third-degree felony.
