Billionaire George Soros gets involved in Austin police fuding vote

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Billionaire George Soros is bankrolling an attempt to block a bill that would bulk up the police department in Austin.

In next month’s election, Austin voters will decide on Proposition A. It’s a ballot proposal add police officers and provide more police training on scenarios officers often encounter.

A move to defeat the proposal is getting some help from Billionaire Democratic Party activist George Soros.

He’s donated a half-million-dollars to the group Equality Austin. The PAC also received a $200,000 donation from the Washington D.C based Fairness Project.

The 91-year-old New York billionaire often supports leftist political causes.

After the George Floyd riots in 2020, the city of Austin slashed nearly a third of it’s police budget resulting in staffing shortages throughout the police department.
